What does the basic installation cost cover?

The majority of our installations are standard installations, with no additional factors to consider, so the cost you see on our chargers will be the cost you pay (excluding any extras you may wish to add to your charger such as specification upgrades).

Our Easy Estimator tool helps to give you an estimate of the overall cost based on your personal requirements. The Easy Estimator takes into account a number of different factors which can impact your overall installation cost, such as the OLEV grant and the main factor in your installation; where your main electricity supply is located.

The distance of your main electricity supply to the potential location of your new charge point will determine if any additional work is required.

In some installations we may be required to fit an underground cable. The installation cost of an underground cable can vary depending on the complexity of the work required by our specialised installation team. This will all be covered as part of your quotation and in some cases a technical survey may be required so we can give you an accurate cost. However, our team are on hand to discuss this with you and make sure you have the most cost efficient solution in place.

If you have any queries regarding installation please don’t hesitate to contact our team of experts.

What is the installation process?

Our aim is to make the installation of your new charging point as quick and seamless as possible and we follow a simple process:

  • We will ask you to complete a quick and easy survey to determine if your installation is a standard installation or whether additional work may be required.
  • Technical survey – In some cases a technical survey may be required, this will be completed prior to your quotation being received to determine if any additional work is required, such as underground cables.
  • Upon receipt of your survey information our team will send you a quotation based on your specific charging solution
  • If you would like to proceed our team will submit a DNO application on your behalf
  • Installation date at a time and date convenient for you
  • Charging point installed a demonstration of how to use the charger set up app (where applicable)

Project EV – EV Charging Station (7.3 kW range) Charging specifications

This is the Project EV charger, a Smart home charging station which can deliver 32 Amps of current to your electric vehicle. This means that it has a power rating of 7.2 kW, enough for it to fully charge most EVs in one night. Now please not that this is a single-phase AC Charger not a DC Charger which means you can’t expect it to fully charge your EV in 2 hours.

Project EV – EV Charging Station (7.3 kW range) Cable types and connectors

The charging station doesn’t come with a car charging cable because this is an untethered model, however there is the EVA-07S-PE-RFID version which is tethered and does come with a 5m cable.

It uses a Type 2 connector which is the standard throughout Europe and will fit all electric cars produced on the continent. It will also work with Tesla cars, but you’ll need to get an adapter for that. Now to install it at home, you’ll need to know it doesn’t come with a plug, instead you need to hardwire it. This isn’t a hard process and any licensed electrician should easily be able to do this for you if you don’t want to bother.

Project EV – EV Charging Station (7.3 kW range) Features

Now we need to talk about features and here is where all the different versions of this EV charger start to make sense. So, the first one would be the RFID card feature which can limit access to a limited number of users. This is available on the EVA-07S-SE-RFID, EVA-07S-SE-RFID-4G and the EVA-07S-PE-RFID.

Then there is a model which has built-in 4G connectivity and that is the EVA-07S-SE-RFID-4G. Now what you need to know is that regardless of which one you buy, you will get Wi-Fi connectivity and you can connect to it via the smartphone app they provide. The app will provide real-time EV charging info on how much power is delivered to the car and the battery status along with a log of all your past charging sessions. You can also do scheduled charging so that you avoid peak on electricity throughout busier parts of the day. Usually most EVs come with this feature built-in but it’s more simple to control it via the charging app.

It is also worth noting that all the Project EV chargers come with an IP65 rating and this means that they are waterproof as well as dustproof. You can easily install them outside and they’ll keep charging your vehicle in the rain and snow. There’s also a cable lock system so that nobody can disconnect and take away your cable. The people at Project EV also mention the fact that it doesn’t require an earthing rod.

It has the ability to do load management which means that it will adjust the charging rate so that the power doesn’t drop on your home circuit but also solar charging on all versions (Stated as Solar Compatibility) which allows you to charge your car only when the solar panels on your roof are producing energy.

One of the things that make this Project EV electric vehicle charger stand out is the fact that it comes with a 5-year warranty. This is way more than the standard 3-Year that you would get with chargers that are in the same price range.

Project EV are just incredible. Customer Service second to none.

Project EV has just been incredible for me. Any problem whatsoever, they respond quickly and deal with it with no questions, this is the second time dealing with them (The first time was just as a good), a new charging lead wasn’t sitting correctly and causing issues in charging the vehicle. A quick email to tech support was met by a very helpful Phil Duffy who, after seeing a video of the problem quickly referred me to Kayleigh who then gave me a ring and booked me in for a site visit. Jordan came out, saw the problem, fitted a brand new unit, answered all my questions, showed me it working with the new charging lead and set me back up on the Wi-Fi. Everything combined, from the initial email, through to the resolution has been incredible. Kayleigh was nice enough to follow up the visit with a phone call and to make sure I was happy with the outcome. I would recommend Project EV to anyone needing a charger in their house, no doubt about it. Y’all are superstars in my book, thank you.

Tesla’s Worst-Kept Secret: A Comprehensive Review of Project Highland

We’re nearing the end of the second quarter, and Tesla is pulling out all the stops to clear out the existing inventory of Model 3s. The buzz is intensifying about the anticipated Project Highland, Tesla’s substantial redesign of the Model 3, which is speculated to commence production as early as the third quarter.

price, project, charger

What was once a hush-hush project has now become a badly-kept secret, with rumors and piecemeal evidence sparking widespread excitement and curiosity. Here’s a compilation of everything we know about the impending changes.

Exterior Overhaul: Function Meets Design

Tesla’s upcoming Project Highland stands to redefine the exterior aesthetics of the Model 3, pushing the boundaries of design innovation. The most striking changes, as suggested by leaked images, include reimagining the headlights into a sleeker, more streamlined form, enhancing the car’s modern appeal.

Interestingly, there are no apparent fog lights in the new design, sparking curiosity about whether they’ve been integrated into the headlights or entirely phased out. Further, the front bumper sees a notable transformation, with the absence of ultrasonic sensors hinting at Tesla’s continued emphasis on vision-based assistance.

Alterations extend to the side mirrors, appearing slightly slimmer, and the conspicuous lack of the T logo on the hood aligns with Tesla’s move towards reduced branding. Changes continue to the rear with a redesigned bumper and repositioned reverse lights, both indicative of a refreshed look and potential cost efficiencies.

Introducing a new front bumper camera aimed at improving blind spot visibility, along with potentially additional side cameras, demonstrate Tesla’s commitment to enhancing driver safety and convenience.

Interior Innovation: Redefining Luxury and Practicality

Revamping the Model 3’s interior, Tesla’s Project Highland removes the iconic wood dashboard inlay, swapping it for a more modern aesthetic with the possibility of materials such as alcantara fabric, carbon fiber or brushed metal. A noteworthy addition is the supposed installation of ventilated seats — these enhance the comfort quotient, providing temperature adaptability for varying climates.

An upgraded sound system is also on the horizon, aiming to enhance the auditory experience with a more immersive sound. Improved ambient lighting within the cabin is rumored as well, adding a soothing aura to night-time drives.

Driving Revolution: The Advent of Smart Shift

Shifting gears, both literally and figuratively, in a potentially revolutionary move, Tesla may be ditching the traditional gear stalks in favor of on-screen controls for transitioning between park, reverse, and drive modes. If rumors prove accurate, this ‘Smart Shift’ technology could signify a paradigm shift in vehicular control interfaces, offering a futuristic and user-friendly experience that could redefine the very act of driving.

As all signs point to a fast-approaching launch, Project Highland is shaping up to be a testament to Tesla’s unyielding dedication to pioneering advancements. The proposed significant transformations — an aesthetic reinvention, superior technology integrations, a luxurious and pragmatic interior, and a ground-breaking driving interface — underline Tesla’s resolve in pushing the envelope of what’s possible in electric mobility. As anticipation continues to mount, it’s clear that Project Highland isn’t just a worst-kept secret; it’s a bold glimpse into the exciting future of Tesla’s sustainable transport vision.

A Close Look at Tesla’s Model Y as a Police Cruiser

When it comes to police vehicles, performance, reliability, and durability are non-negotiable. Recognizing the need for a more modern, sustainable solution, Model PD has converted Tesla’s Model Y into fully equipped, robust police cruisers.

According to Zack Wilson, a spokesperson for the company, they considered other electric vehicle manufacturers. Still, Tesla was the clear winner, stating, The reason we’re sticking with Tesla is that from what we’ve seen, Tesla is the only company that can meet the demand. Not only that. But the Model Y is the safest car on the planet.

Modifications Made

The Model Y police cruiser sees a host of changes that elevate it from a sleek consumer vehicle to a reliable law enforcement workhorse. The typical glass roof has been replaced with a carbon fiber one, providing the strength required to house police lights and dome lights. Durability is a crucial factor here, with the interior upholstery being swapped out for a more resistant material to withstand the rigors of police work, including the wear and tear from handcuffs and guns.

A keyboard has been added to the bottom of the screen, and with one press of a button, the display will switch from the Tesla screen to a Windows interface for police officers to access law enforcement information.

To ensure the safe and secure transport of suspects, the back seats have been converted to a vinyl surface, complete with a plexiglass enclosure. In an interesting shift, the standard Tesla wheels have been replaced with traditional police steel wheels, topped off with Goodyear police-rated tires.

Outperforming the Competition

Compared to a traditional police vehicle such as the Ford Police Interceptor Utility, the Model PD’s Tesla Model Y-based cruiser presents some compelling advantages. The Model PD boasts an impressive 131/117 MPG equivalent in city/highway driving, compared to Ford’s 23/24 MPG. Additionally, it delivers a powerful 384 horsepower and 375 lb-ft of torque, outshining Ford’s 285 horsepower and 322 lb-ft of torque.

The Tesla-based cruiser also offers significant savings in terms of operational costs. Based on 20,000 miles per year, the Model PD’s estimated annual electric cost is just 605, compared to a whopping 5,085 for fuel in the Ford. Furthermore, the estimated yearly maintenance cost for the Model PD is a modest 350, starkly contrasting the Ford’s 1,300.

The Future of Policing with Tesla

Model PD plans to expand its portfolio by converting Tesla Cybertruck into a police vehicle. If the Model PD’s transformation of Model Y is anything to go by, the Cybertruck could revolutionize policing in terms of resilience, functionality, and sustainability.

The Model PD’s transformation of the Tesla Model Y into a fully equipped police cruiser embodies a significant stride in the evolution of law enforcement vehicles. With its impressive performance stats, cost-efficiency, and commitment to sustainability, the Model PD shows that Tesla is not just meeting the demand. it’s shaping the future of policing.
