Rated 5 out of 5 by Ano1 from Great fast charger I love the practicality and functionality of this charger. It is super fast to charge my phone, or MacBook, and it even charges 2 devices together and way faster than any of my old chargers. I also love how small and practical it is, I take it at work, and on trips and no longer worry about needing multiple chargers for devices. It is an amazing charger! I highly recommend Belkin dual USB fast cherger!

Rated 5 out of 5 by Anonymous from A great charger from a reliable brand I bought this charger when it first released because for the longest while, I was looking for a charger that met the following criteria: compact, 65W, 45W for single port, dual USB-C ports, foldable prongs, supports Steam Deck and notebooks, and from a brand I can trust. This one satisfied all of them. It worked great out of the box and my Steam Deck didn’t give me a slow charging message unlike some other brand’s chargers.

Does this charger support Samsung’s Super Fast Charging 2.0 45W?

Unlikely. Samsung’s SFC 2.0 appears to need to be able to get ~4A at ~9V (apparently even Samsung’s own 45W GaN charger only hits ~38W output to a S22 Ultra). According to Belkin’s support page,https://www.belkin.com/hk/en/support-article?articleNum=333637, (which for some reason they do not link here), this Belkin WCH013 charger can only output 3A/3.25A at various voltages, so 45W SFC is unlikely. Having said that, phone charging speed drops as the battery fills. Check any of the YouTube videos comparing a 25W and 45W charger on Samsung SFC 2.0 phones; the difference to get the same charge levels between the two will be less than 5-7 mins widening slightly until ~50%, then narrowing again. You shouldn’t really miss all that much if you use this charger; to me, the Belkin’s two-device charging capability would give it the edge.

I know it’s a bit late, but according to the Amazon product page: Dimensions: ‎1.54 x 1.6 x 2.07 in Weight:‎4.9 oz

Can I use my old charger to charge my iPhone?

You can use your old charger to charge the iPhone 13. It’s one of the stated reasons Apple removed the charger from the box with the iPhone 12 and newer models — the assumption that most buyers will have a capable charger already.

It depends on how old the charger is, though. The iPhone 13 comes with a USB-C to Lightning cable in the box, so the only existing charger compatible is what you got with the iPhone 11 series. You won’t have any problems with an older charger and cable. But if you are planning to use the cable that comes in the iPhone 13 box, you will need to buy a new charger.

Fast charging is another consideration. Apple’s older iPhone chargers top out at 18W, so you won’t get the fastest possible charge with them. You will need a 20W or higher charger from Apple or a third-party option that supports USB-PD (USB Power Delivery) to take advantage of the iPhone 13’s fast-charging capabilities.

What charger should I get for my iPhone 13?

If you’re planning to buy a new charger for your iPhone 13, you should get one that supports the phone’s fast-charging feature. These are your best options:

Apple 20W charger

You can’t go wrong with first-party accessories, and unsurprisingly, one of the best chargers for the iPhone is Apple’s 20W charger. It works with the USB-C to Lightning cable that comes in the box and will let you fast-charge the phone.

Anker 713 (Nano II 30W) charger

Anker’s latest line of GaN chargers are compact, support USB PD, and let you charge a variety of devices. The Nano II 30W USB-C charger is enough to fast-charge the iPhone 13. You can also spring for the 45W version that can charge some laptops and fast-charge certain Android phones. You can also get Anker’s multi-port 65W USB-C charger to charge your MacBook, iPhone 13, and other devices simultaneously.

Can I use wireless charging to charge my iPhone 13?

Yes, the iPhone 13 supports wireless charging. You will need a compatible MagSafe wireless charger to get 15W wireless charging. The iPhone 13 is otherwise limited to 7.5W charging with third-party Qi chargers. You don’t have to get rid of any older wireless chargers you have lying around. But like with the wired charger, you will want to buy the latest version to get faster charging.

Apple MagSafe charger

The Apple MagSafe charger snaps into place on the back of the iPhone, so you won’t have to worry about the phone not charging because of misalignment. If you have an Apple Watch, you can also get the MagSafe Duo charger.

Belkin MagSafe chargers

Belkin has a series of MagSafe chargers and accessories for the iPhone 13, from wireless stands to car mounts. The basic Belkin MagSafe charger works like the Apple one. It snaps onto the back of the phone, and you will get 15W wireless charging. It also comes with a built-in kickstand.

If you have more Apple devices, like the Apple Watch and Airpods, you can also get the Belkin 2-in-1 (phone and Airpods) and 3-in-1 (phone, Airpods, and Apple Watch) charging stands.

When buying Belkin’s MagSafe products, something to keep in mind is the difference between “with MagSafe” and “compatible with MagSafe.” The MagSafe chargers mentioned will let you charge the phone at 15W. However, products that are “compatible with MagSafe,” like Belkin’s power bank, will only give you 7.5W.

FAQ

Iphones running newer versions of iOS (14 and 15) are no longer able to show a numbered percentage next to the battery icon. To check your iPhone’s battery percentage, swipe down on the right side of your screen.

If you’re having charging problems – say, for instance, your iPhone won’t charge at all – your battery, charger port, or cable may be damaged. With a little troubleshooting, and maybe a visit to the Apple Store, you can usually fix those problems.

How To FAST CHARGE The iPhone 13

But you can speed up the iPhone 13’s charging speeds if you wish; all it takes is some additional gear and a plug socket. Unfortunately, in order to harness the iPhone 13’s still-relatively-slow 20W fast charging speeds, you will need to go out and buy a 20W USB-C Power Adapter. I use this one; it’s relatively cheap and it gets the job done with minimal fuss.

Similarly, if you’re using a newer M1 MacBook or MacBook Pro, you can use its power brick to charge your iPhone 13 and get similar results. Whatever USB-C Power Adapter you use, however, you WILL be limited to 20W of charging power – that’s all Apple’s iPhone 13 can handle right now.

The upshot of using a USB-C Power Adapter is that you can get ones that supports two charging ports, so you can charge two phones – or your iPhone 13 and your Airpods – at the same time. I didn’t bother with one of these, however, as I only have one Apple product to charge at the moment. I ditched my Apple Watch for the Withings ScanWatch a few months back. And I never touch Airpods.

Is it worth buying a USB-C Power Adapter for your iPhone 13? I’d argue, yes. If you’re a heavy iPhone user, you’ll often find yourself having to charge up the iPhone 13 during the latter part of the day. It doesn’t happen often but when it does, trust me, you’ll want to be charging with 20W, not 5W – it is miles faster and ensures you’re not always waiting around for your phone to charge.

If you’re using an iPhone 12 mini or the iPhone 13 Mini, a USB-C Power Adapter is an essential bit of kit. The battery life on these iPhones is terrible, so you’ll want all the charging speeds you can get your hands on which, sadly, is only 20W but 20W is still way better than 5W, so my advice would be to GET ONE TODAY.

The iPhone 13’s 20W charging is still painfully slow compared to what you get on some Android phones. My old phone, a cheap RealMe GT had 65W wired charging. It took literally 15 minutes to charge from 20% to 100%. With the iPhone 13’s 20W charger, you’re looking at triple that amount of time to do the same. Again, this is something I really hope Apple addresses with the iPhone 14.

Why Doesn’t Apple Allow Properly Fast Charging?

As with most things related to Apple products, there is never an answer – they are just the way they are because that’s the way they are. You, the end-user, just have to deal with it until Apple sees fit to fix it or update it. With charging speeds for the iPhone 14, leaks suggest that Apple is looking at improving things ever so slightly by adding in support for 30W wired charging.

30W charging on the iPhone 14 would be an improvement over what we currently have on the iPhone 13, of course, but in the grand scheme of things, in a world where Android phones now do 120W charging, it still feels a little pathetic. I mean, why the hell can’t Apple just fix this once and for all? It has the money, the resources, and plenty of users that’d kill to get 100W fast charging on their iPhones.

Apple probably thinks its batteries are now so good that you don’t actually need fast charging, as most iPhones will make it through an entire day on a single charge. In most cases, this sentiment is correct. But if you’re using an iPhone 12 mini or an iPhone 13 mini, this just simply is NOT the case. You will need to recharge your phone mid-way through the day. And in these instances, it’d be much nicer if you actually had fast charging at your disposal.

Is it Safe to Use Any Charger With Any Phone? The Difference Between 20w vs 30w

It’s 3:33 pm, my iPhone 12 Pro has 8% charge. I’m plugging it into QDOS’s fast charging 20W PowerCube. Let’s see how this goes!

If you have purchased a new smartphone in the past 2 years, your device can likely be fast-charged. If your device doesn’t have the fast-charging feature, you may have wondered, is it safe to use any charger with any phone?

The fast answer is yes! It is perfectly safe to use any certified charger wattage with any device. The reason for this is that the device only uses the wattage it can take…

Will I fry my 20W phone by plugging it into a 30W charger?

Nope! Smartphones will only take up to the amount of power that they can use from the 30W charger. Your 20W phone will not be fried by a 30W charger.

Your 20W phone will charge at the same speed with a 30W charger as with a 20W charger. The device takes up to the wattage it can take. A 20W phone can take up to 20W, which is what it would take while plugged into a 30W charger.

iphone, charger, share, details

Your 20W phone WILL charge faster plugged into a 30W charger compared to a 10W charger.

Update, it’s 3:41 pm and my iPhone’s already at 26%. In 8 minutes, my phone’s charge has gone up 18%!

Fast-charger manufacturers want to ensure that their chargers are safe to use. This is why this feature of devices only taking up to the Wattage that they can use from the charger is such an industry standard. Otherwise, we’d all be burning each other’s houses down when we mindlessly unplug our friend’s phone to plug in our 10W phone into their 50W fast-charger… don’t judge me, their phone charge was full!

Is a 20W charger the same thing as a 20W fast charger?

No! These offer two different charging speeds. Plugging a 20W phone into a 20W charger will charge the phone fine. Plugging a 20W phone into a 20W fast-charger will charge the phone much faster.

Nope! There is no concern around fast-chargers and the fast-charge feature being a concern in regards to battery life.

It’s now 3:54 pm, it’s been 21mins since I plugged my iPhone 12 Pro into charge with the QDOS 20W Powercube fast-charger, and it’s now at 48%. I’m keeping this! The fast-charging feature is so incredibly practical… If you know you have 10 minutes before you need to head out, you can top up the charge on your phone by around 20%!

Fast-charge is likely going to become an industry-standard in smartphones in the years to come. Luckily, the way that these devices and fast-chargers are designed, the question ‘is it safe to use any charger with any phone’ is one that we can confidently say yes to.

It’s rumoured that a couple of models of the next iPhone range. expected to be released late September, will be able to be charged up to 30W which would be CRAZY fast charging. Sign up to our newsletter to stay up to date with all the latest iPhone and Apple rumours.

Charging Power

So this VOLTME 65W charger has three ports: two USB-C ports and a single USB-A port. If you’re charging a single device from USB-C 1 or USB-C 2, their total output is 65W of Power Delivery. At the same time, the USB-A port can output 36W if you’re charging from it alone.

Charging from the USB-C 1 and the USB-C 2 port results in a 45W and 18W power split, while charging from USB-C 1 and the USB-A port results in the same power split. However, charging from USB-C 2 and the USB-A port means that the two ports will share a 20W output only.

Charging three devices simultaneously has USB-C 1 outputting 45W, and the USB-C 2 and the USB-A port sharing 15W.

For my testing, I began by charging my Lenovo laptop from the USB-C 1 port alone, and I could charge it at about 35W; then I plugged in a Galaxy Note 9 to the USB-C 2 port, and I could fast charge my Note 9.

The third device I plugged in was an LG G7, but the LG G7 was only able to standard charging from the USB-A port, while my Note 9 maintained fast charging from USB-C 2, and my Lenovo laptop kept charging at 35W.

To confirm that each USB-C port can output 65W, I plugged in my Excitrus power bank and got the full 65W of Power Delivery from USB-C 1 and USB-C 2 when charging from them alone. The other device I plugged in a while charging my Excitrus power bank from USB-C 1 was a Baseus power bank that I began charging from USB-C 2.

The Baseus power bank could charge at 18W, while my Excitrus power bank dropped to a 45W recharging speed.

The other device tested was a Galaxy S20 with the UBS-C 1 port, and I charged it alone, and the S20 was able to super fast charge at about 25W. This confirms that this charger features PPS super fast charging.

Size and Design

This charger is tiny and lightweight because it uses GaN tech, so it has a length and width of about 2 inches and a thickness of 1.2 inches. The charger weighs about 4 ounces. It’s a small charger, just like most chargers are now these days, and along with its foldable plug, this charger can be taken nearly anywhere.

At the front, an LED power light turns on when you plug the VOLTME charger into an AC outlet.

Conclusion

If you’re looking for a well-balanced but not very expensive charger, this VOLTME 65W PD fast charger is a good choice.
