These must-have iOS 15 tweaks give users powerful new features and give users more control over their devices.

Our Editor’s Picks For 2012’s Best Jailbreak Tweaks [Best Of 2012]

There have been a ton of great tweaks released for jailbroken iOS devices in 2012. Innovation in the jailbreak community is far from dead, and ideas are continuing to evolve alongside iOS itself. What makes jailbreaking great is the sheer amount of customizability it unlocks. Sometimes a simple idea gives way to a crazy amount of potential.

That’s what this top 10 list of 2012 jailbreak tweaks is about: pushing the limits of what your iOS device can do. Here are the very best quality jailbreak tweaks from the past year:

Springtomize 2 – 2.99

Springtomize is like the swiss army knife of jailbreak apps, and teenage developer Filippo Bigarella updated it to version 2.0 this year.

Springtomize isn’t really an app; it’s more like a giant package of jailbreak tweaks. You can control everything from how many app icons are on your Home screen to change the look and feel of Notification Center. It works on any jailbroken iPad, iPhone or iPod touch.

If you have a jailbroken iOS device, you need Springtomize 2. It allows you to tailor and tinker with how you interact with your device at the OS level. It’s an essential tool.

Stride – 3

Android users have always flaunted the ability to unlock their handsets with a gesture. Stock iOS will only let you slide to unlock your iPhone, but Stride brings customizable gestures to the lock screen in an elegant package.

Once you draw your own unique password, your jailbroken iPhone can’t be unlocked without the specific gesture you create. Stride is really solid and actually feels better than Android’s implementation of the feature. Make sure to get Stride in Cydia and show it off to all your Android friends.

Dashboard X – 1.99

Another Android feature that the stock version of iOS lacks: live widgets. It’s something that many have clamored for Apple to implement, but jailbreakers can already use Home screen widgets with a handy jailbreak tweak called Dashboard X.

Once installed, you can install custom widgets that float next to app icons on your iPhone or iPad’s Home screen. There’s a whole catalog of compatible widgets available in Cydia. A widget like NCSettings gives you quick access to Settings toggles. Dashboard X widgets let you check on stocks, control your music, and more right from the Home screen. As you can imagine, the concept of live widgets works much better on the iPad’s larger display.

BattSaver – 3

iPhone battery not up to snuff? A really, really Smart jailbreak tweak called BattSaver regulates the way you use your iPhone to maximize battery life.

It’s a genius concept, but I noted in my review earlier this year that it could use a little more polish. But that’s not to say that BattSaver isn’t a genius tweak that deserves a lot of credit.

The idea is that there are all kinds of radios in the iPhone that can unnecessarily suck battery life at times. Who needs a Wi-Fi radio on when there isn’t a network within range? BattSaver uses several different strategies to conserve battery life by intelligently switching parts of your iPhone on and off when you don’t need them. You can also create your own custom setup, which can be very powerful if customized correctly.

BattSaver makes you the master over your jailbroken iPhone’s battery.

Protecti – 3

Protecti is that jailbreak tweak you always wish you would have had in a sticky situation. Say that someone grabs your iPhone before you had a chance to delete some embarrassing messages or pictures. Using pre-determined commands, Protecti will lock down certain parts of your iPhone and keep whatever you want hidden from prying eyes.

So, for instance, you could perform a quick gesture on your iPhone to lock the Messages app, block incoming notifications, and hide certain results from Spotlight. Protecti can really be customized to suit anyone’s needs, and that makes it a very powerful jailbreak tweak.

Turn to Hangup – Free

This jailbreak tweak isn’t super innovative, but it’s pretty fun. Turn to Hangup lets you dismiss incoming calls by placing your iPhone on its face. You can also shake your iPhone to silence an incoming call and keep your device from vibrating.

There’s also the chance that you could accidentally dismiss a call, but the idea is still pretty cool.

Merge – 1.50

Merge solves a really annoying issue with iMessage that Apple will hopefully address in the near future. iMessages allows users to respond to the same message from multiple accounts, like a phone number and email address. Sometimes this can cause multiple threads to be created in the Messages app. It can get hairy with multiple contacts all messaging from different addresses.

Merge does just what the name implies. Instead of multiple iMessage threads for different IDs from the same contact, each contact in your address book is sorted into a single, easy-to-follow thread. Another neat feature is the ability to choose which iMessage address to send to for a given contact. No more trying to figure out which thread to respond to when you’re messaging with someone.

Emblem – 1.99

Notification Center on the iPad just doesn’t work. Apple merely ported the iPhone layout to the iPad’s larger display, and the system just doesn’t translate well. A jailbreak tweak called Emblem makes receiving and interacting with notifications more intuitive and less obtrusive on the iPad.

Instead of iPhone-like banners, Emblem brings OS X-like notification bubbles with gestures and message handling. Incoming notifications appear as banners on the right side of the screen. A group of notifications can be stacked and scrolled through with ease in one banner cell, and you can select to close a notification before it queues in Apple’s Notification Center.

Switchy – 1

At the beginning of the year, an iOS concept become reality in the form of Switchy, a jailbreak tweak that reinvents the iPhone’s app switcher.

Switchy is designed to maximize the dead space on the iPhone’s screen whenever the multitasking tray is enabled. Instead of one row of icons, Switchy displays two rows. Swipe to the left and there are music controls with album artwork. Settings toggles are also implemented right into the app switcher for quick access. It’s not perfect, but Switchy is an admirable attempt at improving the iOS multitasking experience.

Auxo – 1.99

Last by not least is Auxo. Released this month, Auxo is also the product of a well received iOS concept. It is definitely the best jailbreak tweak of 2012.

If Switchy is a good effort at improving iOS multitasking, then Auxo knocks it out of the park. This is the way Apple should do the app switcher in iOS.

Instead of app icons, Auxo displays live app preview cards that can be closed with simple gestures. There’s enhanced music controls and minimal toggles for settings like Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, cellular data, and even screen brightness. The whole tweak is incredibly polished and good looking. It’s hard to imagine Apple doing a better job.

As Switchy and Auxo demonstrate, people are really thinking about how to reinvent the iOS multitasking experience. It clearly needs work on Apple’s end. Here’s to hoping we see some of the jailbreak community’s ideas show up in iOS 7.

Some of the best Charging Tweaks iOS 14

Previously, we showed you some of the best jailbreak tweaks for customizing and enhancing some facets on your jailbroken iOS 14 device. You can find them at the end of this article. Like that, there’s another essential element to expand the user experience. That is, jailbreak tweaks enhance the user experience of charging your jailbroken iOS 14 device. Here are the best charging tweaks iOS 14 to the best charging experience on your jailbroken iPhone.

The best jailbreak tweaks for charging iOS 14

So, without wasting any more of your time, let’s dive into it.

MagSafe Enabler

MagSafe Enabler is a great jailbreak tweak that lets you enable new native MagSafe Charge Animation on the lock screen on a jailbroken iPhone running iOS 14 that does not support MagSafe charging.

However, this simple tweak doesn’t give you a MagSafe charging capability for iPhone. But, the MagSafe Enabler tweak provides the charging animation displayed on a MagSafe-capable iPhone when connected to a MagSafe power source or a non-MagSafe charger.

Primarily, the tweak doesn’t provide any options to configure. It is also compatible with iOS 14.1 and above versions of iOS and is open-sourced on Github.

If you use MagSafe Enabler, it only provides the native MagSafe animation. But if you expect a higher degree of customization, the Electrifying tweak is for you.

Mainly, the tweak allows jailbreakers to customize the MagSafe charging animation. And it also upgrades and presents the native Low Power alert to be much more aesthetically pleasing. In other words, the Electrifying tweak offers you a redesigned low battery alert and MagSafe charging animation on the lock screen.

When your iPhone or iPad is being charged, the battery level percentage will rise, and while discharging, the battery level percentage will fall accordingly.

Axe is a simple battery tweak that uses a slow-shifting color gradient to colorize the Status Bar and Lock Screen battery indicator based on the battery percentage on your jailbroken iPhone.

You can learn more about Axe and how it works in our full review post.

Some iPhone users are interested in the battery level for a long time to ensure that the battery does not die quickly. By default, the iOS operating System indicates a green color battery icon fill for any battery level above 20%, and less than 20%, it turns red.

However, iOS developer ExeRhythm has changed the battery colorization experience by releasing a new battery jailbreak tweak called Batterain. Like the Axe tweak above, it simply colors the iOS 14’s battery indicator with a slow-shifting color gradient based on how much battery you have left.

You can know more about Batterain and how it works in our full review post.

There is nothing more confusing than draining the battery of your iPhone in the middle of a game or watching the climax of your favorite movie. So, instead of shutting down a game you’ve been playing or watching a movie for a while before your device’s battery level reaches 0%, would you not want to run it until the last bit of your iPhone battery? So, iOS developer ExeRhythm has released a free battery jailbreak tweak called SpeedrunTime that allows jailbreakers to utilize every last bit of power of their iPhone battery before the device shuts down.

In short, it gives you a final warning at 1% battery percentage, and it’s time you must speedily connect your device to a charger.

Total Charge Tones

Total Charge Tones is an awesome MobileSubstrate battery tweak that plays a selected tone alert when your battery is charged to 100% percentage. Primarily, it’s beneficial if your device doesn’t want to be connected to a power source all day. And you are notified when to disconnect from power when your device no longer needs it.

When navigating to the battery section of the Settings app, users can see Battery Health on their iPhones. Therefore, users can get an idea and determine how used device’s internal battery might be.

As you know, Apple has provided a Battery Health section on iOS for iPhones to monitor this degradation. But that is not available on iPod touches or iPads running iOS or iPadOS 14.

So, BatteryHealthEnabler(iPad/iPod) is a simple tweak that enables a Battery Health section for those devices.

PowerUp is a free jailbreak battery tweak for iOS 14 that helps jailbreakers charge their devices faster by putting them into a hibernation-like state when connected to a power source. Mainly, PowerUp reduces battery discharge while charging and charging time.

The tweak is compatible with iOS 13 and iOS 14 devices and is open-sourced on Github.

SmartBattery 2 – 1.99

SmartBattery 2 is an ultimate charging tweak that enhances the battery experience on your jailbroken device in many ways. Mainly, it offers a feature to estimate how long it will take before the device reaches a full charge while plugged in.

Behalf of that, it provides many other useful charging features such as a notification sound when fully charged, monitoring, saving and tunning your battery, Smart charging capabilities to increase charging speed, details about your current charger, and more.

Vaon is an add-on for the App Switcher that adds convenient battery information for Bluetooth devices in the iOS app switcher. With it, users can view the battery percentages of their iPhones and any connected devices quickly every time you enable the App Switcher.

Vaon Features

  • Showing Bluetooth device battery information on the app switcher

Which iOS 10-10.3.3 jailbreak should you choose?

There are plenty of jailbreak tools for iOS 10-10.3.3 versions and users are spoilt for choice. Here’s a list that will clear up the confusion and allow you to choose the most stable jailbreak for your device.

Which iOS 10 jailbreak tool should you use?

While choice is a great thing in the world of jailbreaking, it can also lead to a lot of confusion and chaos.

Almost all big names within the community release their own jailbreak tools once an exploit goes public.

Therefore, you must make an informed decision and choose a decent jailbreak tool for your Apple device.

Choosing the best jailbreak boils down to a few basic features such as –

  • Stability – The frequency of random reboots, resprings, and freezes should be negligible.
  • Compatibility – The tool should support your device on a good range of iOS versions.
  • Tweak support – Tweak developers should actively pump out tweaks for the jailbroken versions.
  • Developers and the unofficial community – Jailbreak developers of a tool should be active and must take cognizance of users’ grievances and issues.
  • App support – All App Store applications compatible with your firmware should work properly on your device.

I will compare all the current jailbreak tools and grade them on the aforementioned points.

iOS 10-10.3.3 jailbreak tools compared

yalu102 is the first jailbreak for iOS 10 firmware. It is developed by Luca Todesco.

It has a fairly decent success rate and is relatively stable than its iPhone 7 counterpart.

However, you will definitely experience random reboots and resprings on your device. If you are on iOS 10.2 or below, it’s still worth a shot.

  • Stability – Average, frequent random reboots
  • Compatibility – 10-10.2
  • Tweak support – Excellent
  • Developers – Poor support, the developer has left the scene
  • App Support – Average

mach_portal is a jailbreak tool designed specifically for iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 plus. It is developed by Luca Todesco.

extra_recipe is an improved version of Luca’s mach_portal tool. Both of these tools have extremely low success rate and often require over 50 tries to successfully jailbreak your device.

If you have an iPhone 7/7 on iOS 10.1.1 or below, give this tool a wide berth.

  • Stability – Very poor, frequent random reboots
  • Compatibility – 10-10.1.1
  • Tweak support – Excellent
  • Developers – Poor support, the developer has left the scene
  • App Support – Average

Saigon jailbreak is based on triple_fetch and ziVA exploits and was originally released for iOS 10.2.1. It is developed by Abraham Masri.

Although it was updated for other versions, this tool still remains a mess. What sets it apart from other tools is the exorbitantly high number of tries it requires to get going.

It can easily go over 150 tries to successfully inject the exploit.

  • Stability – Very poor, requires a lot of tries
  • Compatibility – 10.2.1-10.3.1 (only for select devices)
  • Tweak support – Excellent
  • Developers – Poor support, the developer has left the scene
  • App Support – Average

h3lix is a 32-bit jailbreak tool for iOS 10 firmware. It is developed by German hacker Tihmstar.

Although it came out a bit late, a lot of users use it as it’s the only jailbreak for 32-bit devices. It is extremely smooth because 32-bit devices don’t have KPP and KTRR protection mechanisms.

g0blin is the first full-fledged jailbreak tool based on Siguza’s v0rtex exploit. It is developed by tweak developer Sticktron.

This tool had the early bird advantage and is, hence, used by a lot of users. Just like other tools, g0blin supports all 64-bit devices except iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 plus.

A lot of users have reported location and in-app TouchID issues with this tool. Therefore, I suggest using other tools because it won’t receive any updates anymore.

  • Stability – Good
  • Compatibility – 10.3-10.3.3
  • Tweak support – Excellent
  • Developers – Average, the developer will no longer work on the tool
  • App Support – Good

Meridian is an iOS 10-10.3.3 jailbreak tool based on Xerub’s KPPless technique. It is developed by hacker Ben Sparkes and is currently under development.

Although it comes with Cydia, it doesn’t work properly as Saurik is yet to push an update. It is extremely stable because of KPPless.

The developers are working on an Electra-style Substitute port for iOS 10. Once it supports Substitute, Cydia will become functional and you will be able to run jailbreak tweaks and applications.

doubleh3lix jailbreak is a v0rtex-based jailbreak tool for iOS 10. It is developed by renowned hackers Siguza and Tihmstar.

It is, by far, the most stable jailbreak tool for iOS 10-10.3.3. However, it has one major shortcoming – it doesn’t support A10 Fusion devices.

This means you can’t use this tool on iPhone 7 or iPhone 7 plus. It can only work with iPhone SE and older 64-bit models.

Apart from that, it is very stable and doesn’t have any issues with TouchID and GPS, unlike g0blin. If you are still using g0blin, delete it and install this new jailbreak tool.

64-bit devices

  • If you are waiting for an iPhone 7/7 jailbreak, waiting for Meridian is your best bet right now.
  • As far as non-iPhone 7 users are concerned, you should stick with doubleh3lix jailbreak. Once Ben releases Meridian, you can safely upgrade from your existing tool.

32-bit devices

  • For those who are still using a 32-bit device, I recommend using h3lix jailbreak. Even if you don’t want to use it, it’s the only option you have.
