Laser Qi Wireless 10000mAh Power Bank (PB-10KWC-BLK)
The new Laser Qi Wireless 1000mAh Power Bank is one of the smaller/lighter 10000mAh power banks with the added advantage of a 5W Qi charge pad.
Now, power banks don’t generally excite us – unless they are ‘hulking big 20000mAh or more’ but this no-nonsense power bank appeals as its quite small and light (145 x 74 x 18mm x 220g) and backed by Laser’s RD, so you know it will work. Read the review and tests and see why it is almost perfect.
Laser Qi Wireless 10000mAh Power Bank (PB-10KWC-BLK)
We said it is no-nonsense – that is a compliment.
- 69.95 or about half a cent per mAh – that is real value.
- Eschews fancy USB-C PD 2.0 or 3.0 electronics for standard USB-C PD 1.0 – 5V/3A (15W) that will charge anything safely.
- USB-A 5V/2.1A output
- 5V/1A (5W) Qi Charge pad
- Charging is via either USB-C (5V/2.4A but you can use any USB-C PD charger) or micro-USB (up to 5V/2.4A).
And safety is very much at the forfront. It has protection for temperature, short circuit, and input and output over-voltage and auto cut-out. It is perfectly safe to use on a plane, train, or automobile.
For convenience, it comes with a USB-A to multi USB-C, micro-USB, and Lightning cable.
Qi charge pad
5W is the standard – it is a slow charge meant for a full overnight charge or simply for top-ups. With the intelligent overcharge protection, you can leave a phone on there, and it will not hurt the batteries.
You can also get this without the Qi for 49.95.
GadgetGuy’s take – Laser Qi Wireless 10000mAh Power bank is powerful and light
When I was weighing the power bank, I noticed that it was 220g, so I got out my trusty 10000mAh (brand withheld), and it was 360g. Even a 5000mAh was heavier at 244g.
How Laser does this is no secret. Most 10000mAh power banks use a set of four 18650 (18mm x 65mm) 2500mAh batteries. New Lithium-Polymer batteries pack 20% more power (approx) into each allowing the diameter to reduce to 14 or 16mm. Sure it costs a bit more but to save 140g ( 5 ounces) weight makes it worthwhile.
We are rating it as a standard no-frills power bank with Qi benefits. If you need a USB-C PD 3.0 rated power bank (e.g. 5V/3A, 9V/3A,12V/3A, 14.5V/2.4A, 20V/2A 40W output) the Laser 20000mAH USB-C PD is now 90 (as 129).

Guide to Buying the Best Power Bank For You
As with any purchase, there is a lot to consider when buying a portable power bank. In our experience, there are 5 things to consider before buying:
SIZE, SPEED, CAPACITY, DURABILITY PRICE.
So let’s have a look at each one.
Size matters when choosing a power bank because if you’re only completing a short hike, you don’t want to be lugging around a heavy unit adding to your weight.
On the flip side, if you’re completing a longer hike and have a decent backpack, then you can afford to carry a larger unit that holds more charge.
So in a nutshell, if you only hike short trails, a lighter power bank would probably suit you best. But if you love hiking longer trails and can store your gear, we would recommend a larger power bank.
Let’s be honest, no one wants a charger that charges at a snail’s pace, right? For this reason, we’ve tried to bring you the fastest chargers on the market right now.
But even then, some are going to charge faster than others… How can you tell?
Wattage… because the higher the wattage, the faster the charge.
But there are two factors that affect the wattage and how fast your device will charge and they are the type of port and the cable you’re using.
For example, a basic USB-A port delivers a lower wattage than a fast-charging USB-C port. And a standard USB-A cable won’t deliver power as well as a fast-charging, USB-C cable.
So basically for optimal speed: USB-C port high-quality USB-C cable = Fastest Speed.
Capacity just means the number of charges you hope to get out of your power bank before it depletes which is measured in milliampere/hour or mAh for short.
For short hiking trips, a good capacity would be 10,000 mAh, as it will generally give you enough juice to charge your phone twice over. That’s usually enough (even if you are a snap-happy photographer like us) to tide you over until you can make it to a wall outlet.
But for longer distances or multi-day hikes, you’ll need upwards of 20,000 mAh to sustain you. A unit with this capacity will generally give you 4-5 full recharges for your phone before depleting.
One thing to remember about capacity: When dealing with Lithium batteries, the bigger the capacity of a unit, the higher the mAh to accommodate the power.
And the larger the mAh, the heavier the unit will be, but even more importantly, it also means that your power bank may exceed airline regulations, meaning you risk not being able to take it on a flight.
For this reason, we highly recommend checking any larger power banks with the airline before flying.
But whatever you decide, the goal is to have enough capacity to accommodate your hiking needs.
Next, let’s look at durability which has more to do with the casing than the inside of a power bank. So what are you after, do you want plastic, sturdy metal, or somewhere in between?
The type of casing, although a personal preference, should be based on your demands on your gear. Let’s start with the following questions.
Do you tend to hike a lot of rugged trails where your gear could get knocked about?
Are you hard on your equipment?
Do you tend to drop your phone a lot, like me?
If so, then you may be better off with a tougher power bank.
However, if you only intend to carry your power bank in your backpack or on milder trails, you may not need to be so careful.
Last but not least is the cost of the power bank.
Unfortunately, when it comes to quality power banks, you can’t skimp out on
Because if you buy a cheap unit, it will likely have less capacity, speed, and durability.
But that said, you don’t have to spend a fortune to have a high-functioning unit either.
Through our research and experience, we have found that good all-rounder power banks generally run somewhere between 60-110.
So unless you like the bling, or need a super heavy-duty charger you don’t need to spend a fortune to have a good quality unit.
Conclusion: Choosing the Best Power Bank for You
We understand that there is a sea of information out there when it comes to power banks. And unless you know what you’re looking for, it can be challenging to choose the right charger for your needs.
