Customer Reviews

I originally purchased this charger because I travel for business and work in remote locations without access to charging. Since then, it’s something i make sure i have wirh me before i leave the house everyday. It’s the perfect size, incredibly convenient, and charges my Note 20 Ultra around 3.5 times. Also, while not recommended, my significant other dropped it in a lake on accident. He saw my disappointment and ordered another one immediately. however, it still works! Rugged, convenient, and affordable. 10/10 will be keeping the second one he ordered so I can have two lol.

Cons

Power Delivery charging has changed the way we charge our portable devices. So many devices that we use each day now have USB-C ports, and some of them are Power Delivery compatible so they’re able to charge at a faster charging speed.

The best part is that you can use any Power Delivery charger to charge USB-C chargeable devices, given that the charger outputs enough charging power.

In this review, we’re taking a look at this Excitrus 9,600mAh 45W Power Delivery Power Bank. With the use of Power Delivery also comes the ability to more easily charge your laptop while on the go, and this Excitrus power bank is the first that we’ve seen to have such a low capacity and yet use such a powerful Power Delivery port.

Power Capacity:

The only odd part of this power bank and what we think to be a positive part of this Exctirus portable charger is that it has a 9,600mAh power capacity. This comes as a surprise because there are not many 45W Power Delivery power banks on the market that have such a low capacity, as most 45W PD power banks have at least a 20,000mAh power capacity.

However, there’s no denying that a 9,600mAh power capacity is on the rather low side, and with its powerful PD charging, you can expect to charge laptops with this power bank, not just smartphones.

With that said, you can get a single full charge for most laptops, like how we were able to get only a single full charge for a Lenovo IdeaPad Flex 5 laptop. We were also able to get a single full charge for a Microsoft Surface Go tablet.

When it came to charging smartphones, such as a Samsung Galaxy Note 9, this power bank did well with about 1.5 full charges.

Overall, the small power capacity does have its limits, but the equivalent exchange factor is the very small size, which we’ll get to later in this review.

Output Charging:

The charging is impressive with his power bank, and this is as surprising as the low power capacity because you wouldn’t expect such powerful charging from a 9,600mAh power bank.

This Excitrus power bank has a single 45W Power Delivery port, a Quick Charge USB-A port, and a 5V/2.1A (10.5W) USB-A port.

45W of Power Delivery charging is exceptional, and we tested the Power Delivery port on three devices. The first device we charged was a Lenovo Flex 5, and this Excitrus power bank was able to charge at about 33W to 35W. This is the max charging speed of the laptop. You’re also able to charge USB-C Power Delivery Macbooks with this power bank.

We also charged the Surface Go tablet, which was able to charge at 22W to 25W, and we also charged a Galaxy Note 9 which was able to fast charge from the Power Delivery port, too.

The 45W Power Delivery port is the highlight of this power bank and it performs very well.

The Quick Charge port can fast charge Quick Charge compatible smartphones, such as the Galaxy Note 9 that we charged it with.

Input Charging:

Recharging this power bank is done through the same USB-C Power Delivery and you’re able to recharge the power bank at 45W. You need a 45W PD wall charger to do so, and we have to say that recharging this power bank at 45W is very fast. You’ll be waiting for about an hour only to get it to 80%.

Size and Weight:

Easily our favorite part of this power bank is how small and lightweight it is. This is the smallest 45W Power Delivery power bank that you can currently find.

The charger has a length of 4.3 inches, a width of 2.5 inches, and a thickness of 0.9 inches. The weight of this power bank is 7 ounces.

It’s an extremely small charger that you can place into your or easily hold, the fact that it’s able to charge laptops, tablets, and smartphones is amazing. We know that it may not seem like much, but we’re at a point where you don’t have to lug around a charging brick and hunt down a wall outlet when you’re in a library or a classroom.

Instead, you can take this Excitrus power bank out of your and begin charging your laptop.

Functional Components:

The charger is sleek and easy to use.

Structure and Material:

The build quality of this power bank is great. The charger is made of plastic, but it’s built for daily use and won’t be breaking apart under normal use. However, the main thing to be cautious of is not dropping the power bank or exposing it to water.

Tech:

When recharging the power bank or charging a laptop via the Power Delivery port, the power bank does get a little warm, and this is likely due to its very small form factor. The power bank did not get hot during our testing. Also, when charging multiple devices at the same time, the max output of this charger is 25W, not 45W to prevent overheating.

Reliability

This is the most reliable low capacity Power Delivery power bank that you can own. The 45W Power Deliver charging covers a wide range of devices that you’re able to charge, such as laptops, tablets, or smartphones. You can also recharge it at 45W, too.

The other most reliable factor is a small size, as you’re able to take this Power Delivery laptop power bank anywhere in your A big plus of purchasing this power bank is that you get a USB-C to USB-C cable and a USB-C to USB-A cable included in the box.

Summary:

The 9,600mAh power capacity is a bit limiting, but the powerful 45W Power Delivery port, Quick Charge port, and other additional USB-A port make up for it. You’re able to recharge the power bank at 45W, too.

Next to the output charging, the small size of this power bank is the next best thing as there are not many other 45W Power Delivery power banks that can fit into a

The charger is built well, just be careful not to drop it or expose it to water.

It’s the most reliable low capacity Power Delivery power bank that you can find, and this is mostly because of its ability to charge Power Delivery compatible laptops, and its inclusion of a USB-C to USB-C, and a USB-C to USB-A cable is great because you’re able to use the power bank right out of the box.

Excitrus 9,600mAh 45W Power Delivery Power Bank Specs

Conclusion:

This Excitrus 9,600mAh 45W Power Delivery mini power bank has got us excited. We would love to see more power banks such as this one on the market because most people just want a very small portable charger that they don’t find a burden, and this 45W PD power bank is the easiest one to fit into your due to its low capacity and small size.

Things To Look for in a Power Bank

Size and Weight

Your power bank is designed to be portable, otherwise, what’s the point?! With this in mind, the physical size and weight of it will be major factors in considering which one is right for you.

The charger should be able to fit neatly in the same space as your cell phone; otherwise, you’ll have one in your while carrying the other in your hand — not cool!

Bottom Line: Look for one that will fit neatly in your. purse, or backpack. While power banks should have a sturdy feel about them, they shouldn’t be uncomfortably heavy, so opt for one that’s light enough not to weigh you (or your s) down.

Milliamp (mAh)

The power capacity that your power bank kicks out is measured in milliamp-hours or “mAh.” The amount of mAh available will define how much charge you can expect to get out of your power bank.

Common capacity ratings range from 2,000mAh to 20,000mAh and in some cases, even as high as 40,000mAh. To give you a rough idea of how the amount of mAh juice in the bank affects what you can charge and how often, consider the following:

  • An iPhone 7 can be charged approximately 6 times with a 20,000mAh power bank
  • A Samsung Galaxy S8 can be charged approximately 4.5 times with a 20,000mAh power bank
  • An iPad mini can be charged approximately 4 times with a 20,000mAh power bank

Think about what devices you need a power bank for and how long you’ll be away from a power outlet. If you just need something to keep your phone topped up a couple of times a day, a 5,000mAh or 10,000mAh will do the job just fine and it will be physically smaller, too.

Hot Tip: Most airlines will cap power banks at 20,000mAh while some will allow larger. Always check with your airline as to what the maximum capacity requirements are.

Inputs (1A, 2A, or 2.4A)

At some point, your power bank will need charging up to ensure it can provide the backup charge power you need. What you want is a nice, quick recharge speed that means you can get back out there without having to be attached to a wall socket for hours on end.

The input charging speed is dependent on the type of wall charger used. A standard wall charger with a 2A output would recharge the power bank twice as fast as one with only a 1A output. For this to happen, your power bank would need to offer a 2A input.

While some do offer this, many still rely on a 1A input which will take longer to reach a full charge.

Hot Tip: Newer power banks can be charged even more quickly with the addition of a 2.4A input option. Look out for these if you want the fastest charge on the market.

Frequently asked questions

Can I bring a power bank on a plane?

Power banks can only be transported on a plane in a carry-on and cannot be in your checked luggage.

Airlines usually allow a 100Wh power bank with a 5V output, which equates to 20,000mAh.

Some airlines will allow 160Wh power banks if you declare it beforehand. Always check with your airline before you fly.

Some of the best portable power banks that we recommend are:

  • Anker 321 Power Bank

How many mAh is good for a portable charger?

Think about what devices you need a power bank for and how long you’ll be away from a power outlet. If you just need something to keep your phone topped up a couple of times a day, a 5,000mAh or 10,000mAh will do the job just fine and it will be physically smaller, too.

How do I choose a portable charger?

The important things to consider when choosing a portable charger are:

  • The size and weight, so it’s not too bulky for your needs
  • The power capacity that the power bank kicks out (measured in milliamp-hours or “mAh”)
  • The input charging speed
