Easy to carry around

Very good battery stays on for very long can take to camping in summer portable and easy to carry around. Charges quick and simple.

Powerful

Great power bank, I had one before but lost on my holiday. This is 5G epoch, we using internet mobile phone all the time, I will definitely recommend, people get power bank one for each. Much convenient if you go out don’t have to worry about battery run out. Light weight to put on the This power bank 20000, battery life is ok, use on my iPhone change about 3 times. About 3-5 mins turn on when phones switch off. Very powerful.

Good quality charging treasure

The quality of the charging treasure is very good, easy to use, the size is also very suitable, the charging is also very fast, the appearance is also very beautiful.

Super love!

It works very well. I like it very much. It can be flushed several times. And the remaining electricity display is very convenient to know! It’s just the right size.

A powerful power bank

A large capacity power bank (20000mAh). Very portable design, and good for many recharges of my devices (mobile, tablet, mouse, Bluetooth headphones, etc.) I always carry it in my bag now :P. What made me opt for this one has been mainly that it has a fast charge (and indicates the %), multiple protections (overcharge, short circuit, over-discharge. ) and is compatible with USB Type C. Remember that it takes a few times to charge due to its high capacity.

Big power small price

Needed a power bank for work as I travel to ensure my phones are charged and I’m never out of juice. This charge up quickly both the power bank and the devices attached to it. The led display showing battery life is very helpful for knowing when it needs a charge. It’s a little heavier than I expected but it does hold slot of juice so Can’t really complain. If you want a big capacity and small price device then go for this you won’t regret it.

Ideal for travelling

If you have the need for a portable power bank, I can highly recommend this one. About the size of a mobile phone, but a little heavier, it can recharge your own mobile or tablet several times before needing to be recharged itself. The actual power remaining in the bank is shown as a percentage display, so you know if it is running low itself. I carry this around with me to keep my phone and tablet on the go all the time and it is excellent for doing this. Well-made item, very pleased with it.

decent power bank

USB-C port can be used as either input or output alternative micro-USB input port displays power bank battery %. one USB-A output port

Quick charger. nice feel

Does exactly what it was intended for. Really nice feel to this, curved/rounded edges makes it easy to hold. The two sides are textured slightly different. one side smooth and one side a really fine crosshatch type of texture. Connections for USB-A, Micro USB and Type C. Nice easy to read digital display. Charge up relatively quick and charges your phone etc very quickly. The packaging is fine and delivery was next day with Prime.

GOOD

This item arrived safe and well packaged. The power bank well wrapped up snug in its box. There was also a mini USB lead included too. this is designed to be used to charge up this device, although it could also be used to charge a device from the power bank if this is the connector needed by your device. I used my own USB C cable to connect the device to my phone (Samsung Note 8). It charged this device with no problem at all, in fact, it’s charged my phone several days in a row now and still has juice left!! This power bank had a HUGE capacity! The device looks great in satin black. very high quality. It’s incredibly easy to use, although an instruction leaflet is included for anyone that needs additional support. I highly recommend this item.

Excellent power bank

It’s more lightweight than you’d expect it to be. My favourite part about this power bank is how it displays the exact capacity instead of using 4 indicator lights as most other power banks would. It lasts very long and is reasonably priced.

A power bank for superheroes

Came in very sturdy and impressive packaging. Bought with an iPhone 8 in mind and this solid feeling device provides quick and effective long-lasting charges, making it ideal to take away for work or on vacation.

A-Class Li-polymer Battery cells.

Nice digital LED display, it tells you the exact amount of power left in increments of 1%. It is capable of charging my device two times faster, than others power banks. It only takes 6-7 hours to recharge the power bank. Lovely smooth and soft matte texture.

Good. Will recommend

Slightly heavier than expected, but charges fast and I really like the display of the power percentage remaining. I have charged my phone couple of times and the power is still remaining, so I don’t know how long it takes to charge the bank.

Shows remaining power, good for travelling

It charges my phone quite quickly. It’s not heavy, and I like it being very convenient that it shows the remaining power it has, not like my other one, I never know how much power it has left. It’s portable too. Good for travelling.

Powerful and good

I’ve bought this charger as it looks small enough to fit to my bag. The charger has a capacity of 20000 mAh, which is more than I expected for such a size. You can charge your phone up to 5 times. It shows the % of power left in it. it’s easy to manage. It’s lightweight and very good quality. Charging is very fast. Smart design. Happy with it.

best, 20000mah, power, bank, reviews

Powerful and fast charging power bank

Great and reliable power bank that ensures my phone is always fully charged and is there when I need it. It charges my phone much faster than other power banks and it also charges really quickly. I can use it for charging other devices like my wireless earbuds and other mobile phones which is very useful when on the go. Sensor display shows the charging level left which is extremely useful too.

Quick charge

One more power bank in our household. It is times now when you can’t live without phone which is a shame, as I remember myself when we didn’t have them and we still could meet without any problems. Now I need power bank in every bag just in case as my phone and kids phones are more than 2 years old and the battery is not new anymore. This one I really like, it’s slim, but still great capacity, not too heavy to carry around, charges itself and give charge quick.

MUCH better build quality than expected

I’ve needed one of these for ages, phone and pad quite often go flat during a busy day. Very impressed with the build quality. USB-C and USB-micro ports have a very positive feel about them too. It can be recharged quickly by either cable. Charged my phones very fast. Holds more than enough power to keep me fully charged for days. it’s what I need to take on for a holiday. I will never worry it will run out the battery. GREAT PRODUCT.

Fantastic product

I am so amazed at how well this works with my iPad Pro. Charges it fairly quickly. I have not tried it on my iPhone X yet but I am sure it will charge just as well. It did take a long while to charge itself at first and I will admit was a little concerned. But it worked out great and the percentages battery charge light is such a bonus.

Charges up to 5 times before needs charging

Fantastic portable battery charger, incredibly powerful, sturdy and well built. Purchased after a recommendation from a friend who hailed it as the best portable charger he had ever used. One charge of the power bank charges my iPhone 5s five times to 100% before I need to charge the power bank again. The power bank only takes up to 7 hours to charge from near flat. The size is quite slim and not too big for travelling around with, body looks stylish and 20000 mAh capacity is large and speed wise its quite fast too. It’s good value for money and would recommend this to someone who travel often too.

Brilliant battery life.

I have gone for a weekend away in Europe and for 4 days have been charging my phone and earphones of it, came back with 30 percent battery. Brilliant battery life. I really like how it shows the percentage of the battery left. Really happy with my purchase.

Great power bank!

Would give 5 stars for this battery being all you need to keep the phone charged for quite a few days! 10% of this battery has charged my phone (turned off) to 100%! Because it does show the percentage of power left it is easy to know when it’s running low. It is also quite lightweight which makes it a great asset to the trips away! Very happy with this purchase.

Very small!

The build quality of the power bank is superior to many other power banks I have owned. The power bank has color tone of smooth black. Adding to this giving the power bank a slick look. These make the power bank feel very high-end. The black trim on top and bottom of the power bank also adds to the premium feel. There are LED display indicating the remaining charge in the power bank. The two USB ports for output to charge devices and the input micro USB port for charging the power bank are all on the same side of the power bank. The power bank has a capacity of 20000 mAh, which should easily charge your device multiple times from 0% to 100%, for a Galaxy S6 edge it should charge it approximately 4-5 times before the power bank needs recharging.

No, it cannot. This power bank supports to charge 2 devices at the same time, BUT do not support charge your device and be recharged at the same time.

It comes with a USB charging cable.

From our testing data, it will take about 6-7 hours. And please note that the recharging time will be varied from the different input voltage and current.

Yes, it can. This power bank can charge most of your mobile devices, including smartphones, Bluetooth speakers headphones, digital cameras, Smart wearables and more.

It can charge about 4 times for your Samsung S9.

This power bank does have a USB-C port, but we do not recommend using this power bank to charge your MacBook series because it only equipped with up to 15W power that is not suitable for your high-power devices.

No, it does not. But it can provide up to 5V/3A fast charging speed.

Yes, you can. The USB-C port support output and input function.

We do not recommend to do like this, because when you leave any battery constantly charging like that you will reduce the lifespan of the chemicals in the battery that make it function.

Sorry, this power bank does not support pass-through charging.

No, it can not charge any MacBook series.

Yes, the power bank support dual input at the same time, but with a max input of 5V/3A.

Yes, we recommend you charge it fully to 100% in the first time using.

Yes, it can be taken on a plane.

Need help choosing a high capacity power bank 20000mAh or over?

If you are looking to buy a high capacity portable battery charger but are unsure of which specifications or features are important here’s some info that may be of help.

  • Capacity – Measured in mAh’s (milliampere-hour) is basically the amount of storage the power bank has. This amount is just a guide, the actual amount the battery delivers is dependent on its efficiency. This can be anywhere from 70%-85%. If you are charging a phone with a battery size of 2000mAh with a 20000mAh power bank, you’d get 10 full charges if it was 100% efficient (this will never happen). In reality, you are far more likely to get 7-8 charges.
  • Max Output – This refers to the overall output of the power bank. Typically more important on a high capacity portable charger, when recharging multiple devices at the same time. If your Smartphone requires 1A and your tablet requires 2.1A then a power bank with a 3.1A Max output would be sufficient. If you were then to plug in the third device, the 3.1A would be shared, and the recharge time would take longer.
  • Safety Systems – Most, if not all power banks will offer protection against short-circuits, over-current and overloads. Usually, the power bank will shut off and will require you to connect the charging cable to reset the system.
  • Pass-through charge technology – This allows you to plug devices into the power bank as it’s being recharged. On high capacity power banks, this feature is extremely useful and not often seen.
  • Additional Technology – Each power bank will have its own terminology, Anker calls theirs ‘PowerIQ‘, RAVPower use the name ‘iSmart‘, Zendure has ‘Zen‘ and the list goes on. There are some variables depending on the manufacturer, but in general, this relates to an adaptable output from each USB port. When you plug in a device, the power bank will identify it’s maximum recharge speed and deliver the correct amount of power.
  • Battery Quality – This is something that you will need to consider. It’s hard to know about the quality of the Lithium battery inside without cracking the power bank open and having a look (not advisable). Generally speaking, if it’s ridiculously cheap it will likely be of poor quality. My advice is to choose a recognised brand that has some control over its own RD. There are so many companies attaching brand names on generic OEM power banks and selling them cheaply. Portable charging devices like the Zendure A-Series power bank do cost more, but it’s for a good reason. – back to the list

i wish you would talk more about the Nut Volts of these particularly what batteries they use the Ravopower and Anker both use brank name LG/Panasonic cells (18650) they are on the top of their game for size and capacity please report what Zendure EasyAcc Tronsmart use for batteries

Please check out the ZMI 20,000 mAh power bank – PowerPack Aura. Similar specs with 27W USB-C PD fast charging but only 35.99.

I got the Zendure A8 20000mah powerbank before it was upgraded to have Quick Charge 3.0, I really want to upgrade, but my current one works so well! Maybe I can give it away as a Christmas present and treat myself to the new one

Best “rugged” power bank suggestion? Price not a major concern but a couple options are appreciated. Will be used in cold / wet / camping / backpacking conditions.

Hi Josh, if you’re looking for a high capacity rugged power bank, I’d check out the EasyAcc one, here’s a link EasyAcc make really good quality power banks at a respectable price. Hope that helps Simon

I bought the Zendure A8 power bank years ago before it updated its feature to include Quick Charge 3.0 I have an S7 Edge and my wife has an S8, I’m so tempted to splash out on an upgrade. Do you know how much faster the new Zendure A8 will charge compared to the original power bank?

You’re quite right Teddy, the Zendure A8 got a serious upgrade recently. It’s definitely going to be higher up the list, I’m just waiting for a review unit to arrive.

So pleased to see the Zendure A8 portable high capacity power bank got the Quick Charge 3.0 update, I love the original design of the power bank, but I really wanted a QC 3.0 compatible charger for my HTC 10 phone.

It’s a great power bank, a little more pricey than some of the others, but it’s built like a tank and does look great, thanks for the comment.

Took your advice and bought the Ravpower 22000mah power bank, it arrived the next day (fully charged) and works like a absolute dream! Thank you!

You’re welcome, I’m currently using the RavPower Quick Charge 3.0 charger as my main high capacity power bank, but the 22000mAh is just as good, just takes a little longer to recharge.

Dear simon. Tha’ks for this brillant article. So usuful and clear! I was wondering though, how do i determin the output (or input? Not sure) my Sony z5 xperia compact needs? And my Galaxy tab 4? Where do i find this information in order to know what lax output i should be fine with… Thanks a lot!

Hi Jack, I believe the Sony Z5 has a 1.5A input and the Galaxy 4 would probably need a bit more. I wouldn’t be concerned about using any of the power banks on this list for either device. It’s actually the Phone or Tablet that’s drawing the charge rather than the power bank pushing it out if that makes sense? If you had a device that only required 0.5A plugged into a 2.4A output of a Power Bank, that’s all it would draw, the other 1.9A is redundant. Hope that helps and thanks for the feedback.

Thanks, Andy! After reviewing so many high capacity power banks over the last few years, I think I’ve done the legwork required to make a useful and accurate list on the subject. I’m also looking into buying some accurate testing equipment to get some numbers on the actual efficiency rates of each of the power banks.

I visited quite a few sites today in search of buying advice regarding power banks. Your site was by far the best. Your research was thorough and concise and eliminated lots of the “junk” that other sites waste time on. As a result, I was able to find just the right power bank for my needs. Many thanks for your excellent recommendations. I also appreciated your explanation on the specs of power banks and the importance of each one relative to user needs.

Roy, Really appreciate the positive feedback, I’m amazed how little effort some of the more ‘well-established’ review sites make these days, especially when it comes to power bank reviews.

I bought the ravpower quick charge 3.0 power bank, I think my phone has Qualcomm 2.0 will this effect the speed?

Qualcomm Quick Charge technology is fully backward compatible, so if your phone has QC 2.0, a Quick Charge 3.0 power bank will provide a QC 2.0 equivalent fast charge – hope that helps.

Anyone with a Quick Charge compatible phone should definetly opt for a power bank with Quick Charge technology, it makes a huge difference. You should feature more high capacity power banks with QC 2.0 and 3.0.

Hi Techman, thanks for the feedback! Rather than swarm the top of the list with Quick charge 3.0 power banks, I’ve added some alternative options to the RAVPower QC 3.0 charger. I do agree with you that it makes a massive difference to recharge times, but that’s only if you have the Quick Charge wall adapter too. Anker have just started selling their quick charge power bank with an included QC3.0 wall charger, seems like a sensible thing for the others to do as well.

The RAVpower 26800mAH power bank should be top of the list IMHO, max amps is worth more that pass through charging

They’ve actually just launched a new power bank with even more Max Output. Their 22000mAh portable charger has 5.8A – I’ve given it the top spot on the list.

To get a good quality 20000mAh high capacity power bank for under 40 is a bargain, but considering the EasyAcc Monster has the double charging inputs, it’s seriously good value for money.

I was planning on buying the Zendure A8, seems like they are only currently offering the Zendure A3 or A4 in the UK, shame because I really like the design

You may be able to buy the Zendure A8 from the US Amazon site at a cheaper price, which may compensate for the additional cost for the international postage? Worth a try, it’s a great Power Bank.

Thanks for the list, I’d have rated the RAVPower 26800mAh Power Bank higher, it’s got the biggest max output of them all, by far. For me, I often need to recharge 2 tablets at a time and a phone. The RAVPower Power Bank is the only one the this whole entire list with enough output to manage that without trickle charging them.

Hi Terry, It is a great high capacity power bank, and really good value for money too – thanks for the comment.

Nice list, I was looking for an even larger power bank than 20000mAh, it seems like there are not that many decent ones to choose from, is there a reason for this? Thanks

Hi Ian, There are very few good power banks over 30000mAh. The only high capacity power banks I’ve seen above the 20000mAh bracket are poor quality and really cheap. The capacity can be a little deceiving sometimes, you will find some that suggest capacities of 50000mAh, but trust me, they are closer to 20000mAh. My advice would be to buy two good quality power banks with 20000mAh rather than a poor quality 40000mAh battery. That way you can recharge twice as quick.

The Zendure A8 does look really good, but it seems far more expenive than all the other battery packs on the list. The 20000mah LimeFuel Blast power bank seems much better value for money in my opinion. They both have pass-through charging and the LimeFuel has an extra 1A max output.

Hi Liam, the LimeFuel Blast is an awesome 20000mAh power bank and considerably cheaper than the Zendure A8. I do think the A8 has a far better build quality and some additional technology that sets it apart. It’s real important to have a Power bank that you can trust, the Zendure is so durable, they run it over with a car and it’s undamaged. The standby time on it is fantastic too, for a high capacity portable battery to still have 95% of it’s original charge after standing around for 6 months is pretty unique.

The EasyAcc 20000mAh power bank is just what I was looking for, I burn through portable batteries like mad with photography work. I currently use two 10000mAh battery packs, because there is enough time to charge each of them over night, A 20000mAh typically takes around 12 hours from a mains adapter. Having a double input it’s ideal, I’m surprised more high capacity power banks haven’t added the feature, is this the only one that has it?

Hi Pete, as far as I know this it is. This works great with a mains adpater with 2 or more USB inputs, that way you only need one power outlet.

Thanks for the guide, the whole mAh capacity thing was a little confusing. Why don’t they just label the power bank with the actual capacity after the loss of charge is account for?

Hi Bev, I think there are quite a few variables that will effect the efficiency. Some power banks may perform better than others, even if they are the same make and model. Even the cable itself and the device you are charging can effect it. All of the ones above perform at the top end of the scale, I’ve tested a few others that have struggled to achieve even 60% efficiency.

Hi Oscar, Thanks for your comment, I totally agree it’s an amazing portable power bank, an absolute beast. I have the Zendure A8 and the A2, they are both awesome, the A8 for it’s huge capacity and the A2 for it’s compact size, I can’t fault them.

I backed the Zendure Power Bank when it was being crowd funded, it’s an awesome charger. Very few have the ability to charge devices while also re-charging. This feature is amazing especially on a high capacity power bank. I plug my tablet into the Zendure and plug the Zendure into the adapter, once the iPad is fully charged the Zendure automatically stops feeding it juice and continues recharging itself until it’s also fully charged, then it shuts off the charge too.- Love it!

Our Review Of The Odec 20W (OD-B5) Portable Power Bank For Camping

The Odec 20W (OD-B5) portable power bank is a new portable battery that can quickly charge devices via both USB A and USB C.

In this post, we’re going to take a closer look at the features, what makes it stick out when compared to other power banks, and our thoughts about it.

Features

The lithium polymer batteries inside the power bank have a total capacity of 20,000mAh, or 74Wh (watt-hours).

That’s below the TSA limit, so you can bring the Odec 20W onto an airplane.

What makes it different from a lot of other portable power banks is the 20W USB C PD port that can be used to both charge the battery itself and compatible devices.

Meaning that it’s both an input and an output.

The USB C PD port can output 20W, but charges at 18W.

When used with a USB C PD power brick of at least 20W, the battery can be recharged fully in less than six hours.

If you have a solar panel with a USB C port, you can also recharge the battery off-grid while camping or backpacking.

In addition to the USB C PD port, there are two USB A ports that support 3.0 quick-charging. QC3.0 only works with compatible devices.

You can use all of the ports at the same time. Odec doesn’t recommend charging devices while recharging the battery, but it’s capable of it.

There is only one button on the side of the battery, which is used to check the battery level. Four tiny LED lights indicate whether the battery is at 25, 50, 75, or 100 percent.

The battery measures 5.6 by 2.7 by 1.1 inches and weighs 14.5 ounces.

In The Box

Odec includes a 4 ft USB TO USB C cable and a manual.

Note that a USB C PD charger is not included.

Our Review of Odec 20W

What We Like

The power bank feels and looks great. It has a high-quality feel to it and the texture on top makes it stick out when compared to my other portable power banks.

The port connectors are also high-quality, and it’s easy to connect and disconnect cables.

I have had similar power banks with a more rough connection that is frustrating to use, but that’s not the case with the Odec.

After using the Odec for about two weeks out camping it still looks great and it doesn’t scratch easily.

Lots Of Ports

With three ports, you can charge several devices at the same time.

It’s also great that you can choose between the older USB A and USB C. The fact that the USB C port is a PD port makes it even better.

The ports perform great. I was able to charge my iPhone quickly, and an iPad at the same time.

Sure, another USB C port would’ve been nice so you can charge it and use it at the same time, but Odec doesn’t recommend doing so anyway to make the battery last longer.

USB C Port Is Input And Output

A good USB C PD port can handle both in and output, and this one does. This also means that you can use a portable solar panel with USB C to charge the battery.

What We Don’t Like

No Charger Included (Except For Cable)

Odec doesn’t include a USB C PD power adapter, so that’s something you’re going to have to buy if you don’t have one already.

Conclusion

The Odec 20W power bank is neither the best nor the worst power bank on the market.

If you buy it, it’s because you’d like to be able to quickly charge a device via USB C PD.

If you don’t need the USB C PD port, there are cheaper options out there for you.

Remember that if you don’t have a USB C PD wall charger, that’s going to be an extra cost, since you need one to charge this battery relatively quickly.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can You Bring The Odec 20W On An Airplane?

Yes, since the battery is 74Wh and below 99Wh, you can bring the power bank onto an airplane.

Note that this is according to the TSA rules in the United States.

If you’re flying to or from a different continent, different rules might apply.

Is It A Good Power Bank For The Oculus Quest 1/2?

Yes, I would say so. It charges the Oculus Quest at about the same speed as the wall charger that Oculus ships with the Quest.

Is The Power Bank Waterproof?

No, the Odec 20W is not waterproof.

How Fast Can The Odec 20W Charge An iPhone?

If you have one of the latest iPhones that support quick-charging, you can charge up to 50% in 30 minutes.

You’re going to need a USB A to USB C cable since you need to use the USB C PD port on the power bank.

Can You Recharge the Odec 20W With Solar?

If your solar panel has a USB C port, you can use a USB C to USB C cable to recharge the battery with solar.
