They are exactly the same, except for the color. The PowerCore Slim 10000 PD is black and silver, while the PowerCore 10000 PD is silver and black.

Anker stands behind its products with an 18-month warranty. During this period, if you encounter any problems with your Anker product, you’ll receive a replacement or refund for the cost of the product.

If you have any issues with your Anker product during the first 24 months after purchase, you can get it replaced or repaired. Please note that there are some exceptions to this rule which are stated in the warranty terms.

Use the dual USB ports to charge two devices simultaneously. Rapid Recharge: Power up your PowerCore in just 4.5 hours with a USB-C Power Delivery wall charger (not included). Recharging via USB-A charger and cable (not included) will take approximately 10.2 hours.

This Power Delivery (PD) protocol was developed along with USB-C. USB-C is the physical port connection. This basically means that: Since the USB-C connector is reversible, it can be inserted into the port either way without having to flip it around just like Apple’s lightning connectors.

USB Power Delivery (or PD, for short) is a single charging standard that can be used all across USB devices. Normally, each device charged by USB will have their own separate adapter, but not anymore. One universal USB PD will be able to power a wide variety of different devices.

Once the power bank is fully charged, all four LEDs will shut off. A full charging cycle takes about 6-7 hours, depending on the chosen power source (e.g. 5V/2A power charger).

It can take 3-5 hours to fully recharge the Anker PowerCore 10000.

The light im referring to is when you hold down where it shows you how much charge is on the anker hold it down for about ten sec and it goes from white to green(1 answer) A: This makes it go into trickle-charge mode which means PowerCore Metro won’t turn off while charging low-power devices.

Overcharging your power bank can cause battery damage, which results in inconsistent charging. Inconsistent charging means that your device will not charge correctly and may charge slower. If your power bank fails to charge correctly, you will also have to replace the device, leading to additional expense.

The Anker PowerCore Slim 10000 was just released earlier in June. This PowerCore is so new it doesn’t even have even Amazon reviews. Below are the specs and features copied directly from the Amazon sales page.

The Anker PowerCore 10000 PD Redux was released in June and is so new it doesn’t have any reviews as of July 1st, 2019.

Review: Anker PowerCore II Slim 10,000mAh Power Bank

Most of Anker’s power banks can be described as being quite slim as they do their best to provide a very portable form factor with their portable chargers.

Anker does have their PowerCore Slim 5000 power bank but that’s more on the mini side and the PowerCore 10000 is also quite slim too but Anker has a new portable charger called the PowerCore II Slim 10000.

It’s the second version of their PowerCore Slim 5000 as it has a 10,000mAh power capacity and it also adds some other charging features that the lower capacity version doesn’t have.

Power Capacity:

The 10,000mAh capacity of this portable charger is great for the charging tech that it features.

That’s because this PowerCore Slim II 10000 uses just a single Quick Charge USB port that can be used to charge Quick Charge compatible devices at their max charging speeds.

So if you’re using a Quick Charge compatible device to charge at its max charging speed, the conversion of power from the portable charger and to your device is going to be worse as charging is happening at a more Rapid rate.

This is normal and we can’t perceive this as a negative thing.

So let’s take a look at what the average Output power capacity you’ll be able to use.

So if you’re charging a standard Non-Quick Charge compatible device with this PowerCore Slim 10000 then you’re going to be receiving a 7,400mAh Output power capacity that you can use.

That said, the main reason that you’re most likely purchasing this Anker portable charger is that of its use of Quick Charge and that can very well subtract 1,000mAh of power capacity from the standard Output of power and leave you with 6,400mAh of power.

That said, 6,400mAh of power capacity that you can use towards charging a Quick Charge smartphone is good.

As most newer smartphones have a battery capacity of 2,500mAh or 3,000mAh, and so you’re able to charge your phone to its max power two times. Considering the size of this portable charger, that is good.

Output Charging:

Of course, the single port on this PowerCore II Slim 10000 is part of what makes this charger worth purchasing.

As it uses a Quick Charge 3.0 port that has a charging speed of 5-6V/3.0A | 6-9V/2.0A | 9-12V/1.5A; this port can charge Quick Charge 3.0 and QC 2.0 devices at their max charging speed.

Also, another important factor of its charging speed is that it’s able to output 5V/2.4A for standard devices that do not use Quick Charge, so if you’re worried that it won’t be able to charge your standard devices too, it will.

Input Charging:

The recharging of this power bank has certain levels and we highly recommend using the highest level when it does come to recharging it.

That said, here are the few different charging levels and how long it can take to recharge the PowerCore Slim 10000.

5V/1.0A USB Wall Charger: 10 Hour Recharge

5V/2.0A USB Wall Charger: 5 Hour Recharge

Quick Charge Wall Charger: 4 Hour Recharge

Overall, it’s best to use a USB wall charger that uses Quick Charge with one of its USB ports as you’re able to recharge this power bank at its fastest speed, which is 5V/2.0A | 9V/2.0A.

Size and Weight:

Of course, the form factor of this portable charger is one of the main reasons that you’re going to purchase this power bank as it has a slim form factor.

It has a length of 5.4 inches, a width of 2.6 inches, and a thickness of 0.6 inches. So this charger is quite short and slim and can fit into your It weighs 7.4 Ounces.

Also, holding this portable charger while you’re using your smartphone is possible too, thanks to its length being very similar to many smartphones on the market which allows you to stack your phone on top of it. It is indeed a worthy successor to the PowerCore Slim 5000

Functional Components:

Just like Anker’s style, this PowerCore II Slim 10000 has a very minimalistic style. That’s because it has both its Output and an Input port on the same side.

The power button is on the long side of the charger and finally, you can find the four LED power capacity indicators at the top of the charger.

Charging automatically starts when you plug a device into the charger, and the LEDs turn off after a while once you’re device is in constant charge.

That leaves the power button with the function of checking the power capacity that’s left. Also, when you’re recharging the PowerCore, each LED light, lights up to show the progress of recharging and once the portable charger is fully recharged, all the lights turn off.

Structure and Material:

This is one of Anker’s products and just like most of their portable chargers, it has a solid build quality. Sure, the portable charger is made of plastic but has a matte grain finish that makes it easy to hold and all of its parts are held together very nicely.

Also, there’s one side of the charger that has a rubber plate where you would place your smartphone for a better stacking grip.

Tech:

On the tech side, this portable charger is very smooth as there’s no overheating whatsoever.

The only reason that this portable charger would get hot is if you’re outside on a hot summer day.

Reliability

The reliability of this portable charger is very objective as it’s mostly meant for users that have Quick Charge compatible device as it has a USB Output port that uses Quick Charge and its recharging can also use Quick Charge too.

That said, you can of course charge Non-Compatible Quick Charge devices too, but if you’re solely charging Non-Quick Charge devices with this portable charger, then we recommend the PowerCore 10000 for a lower price point and same charging power.

Summary:

Power:

There’s still a lot of power available to charge your smartphone twice even when you’re using Quick Charge power.

Also, the same Port can charge Quick Charge compatible devices and Non-Compatible devices at their max charging speeds.

Design:

It’s a level up from the PowerCore Slim 5000 by keeping a slim form factor and a short one too that allows you to hold it, stack your phone and charge it at the same time.

Build:

Solid build quality with all of its pieces holding strong.

Reliability:

Even though this charger can be used by Non-Quick Charge devices, those that own Quick Charge devices can get the best use out of it, as it uses Quick Charge with its Output and Input port.

Summary The Anker PowerCore 10000 PD Redux offers peak charge rates for the Nintendo Switch, iPad Pro. And similar devices using 15V input. But otherwise it is fairly ordinary compared to its competitors. Putting much of its price tag into preferring the Anker brand over others.

First Impression

The Anker PowerCore 10000 PD Redux is the compact version of Anker’s 18W/10,000mAh power banks. The Redux model has a large, round button on top. Used for checking capacity and activating trickle charge mode. Unlike some older models, there are only 4 LEDs on the button, not 8-10. Don’t expect the circle to fill when recharging, the LEDs cover less than half of the curve. The top also has a grip-friendly surface. But the bottom doesn’t, lessening the gripping surface’s effectiveness.

Using an iPhone 8 for testing we find USB PD phones will fast charge over the USB-C port. iPhones will need to use a USB-C to Lightning cable, not included. And Android phones will need a USB-C to USB-C cable, which is included.

For older and newer iPhones the USB-A port supports Apple 2.4A. An older, but still functional fast-charging standard. Older iPhones (4-7) can fast charge using USB-A. Newer iPhones will charge ~15 minutes faster using USB-C.

Using a Moto G6 for testing we get normal charging rates. As no Quick Charge or compatible fast charging standard is supported. The USB-A port provided for the faster charge rate, around 10W.

Nintendo Switch

Works great for all model Nintendo Switch in handheld/tabletop mode. The rare 15V power profile support allows all model Switches to reach their max charge rate.

It will not support the Switch’s dock, as it doesn’t offer the required output.

15V Power Profile Support

A stand out feature of the Anker PowerCore 10000 PD series is the inclusion of 15V in their power profiles. Most other brands either stop at 9V or 12V. Which is fine for most devices. iPhone and Android supporting USB PD don’t need more than 9V. Smaller accessories stick with 5V.

The 15V is nice for larger devices, namely the Nintendo Switch and iPad Pro. Both of those devices accept and thrive at 15V. The original model Switch goes from 12W with a 12V option to 18W with a 15V option. Newer model Switches and the iPad Pro has less of a jump. But an increase in power max power draws nonetheless.

The 15V power profile isn’t enough to fully justify the cost of an Anker power bank. But if you’re trying to pick between it any other option it makes for a good tie-breaker.

Trickle Charge Mode

On the Anker, PD Redux press the button once to turn it on. Turn double press the button to active trickle charge mode. One of the four blue LEDs will turn green, indicating the mode is active. It’ll stay active for up to two hours. Or you can turn the mode off by pressing the button once.

No Fast Charging With Two Devices

The total output is limited to 18W. With no fast charging available when both USB ports are in use.

When you connect the second device you’ll notice the charging resets on the first. This is the power bank stepping down to a 5V output level. If you disconnect the second device you’ll want to unplug and replug the first. To make sure fast charging turns back on.

This limitation is typical of most power banks. The few I’ve seen which allow for two fast-charging devices are unusually large. There is a limit to how much current can cross its circuits without extra hardware. Which adds size, weight, and cost.

Most smaller devices will revert to their normal charging rate. Which will continue to charge the battery while they are in use. The total charge time for the two devices is about the same. Whether you fast charge them one at a time. Or charged them at a slower rate together.

Summary

The Anker PowerCore 10000 PD Redux has its pros and cons. Whether it is worth the price will depend on your personal needs.

Anker PowerCore 10000 PD Redux ports

On the upside, it offers a trickle charge mode for small accessories. Including Bluetooth earbuds such as Apple Airpods. It also offers a 15V power profile, making it a better option for older model Nintendo Switches. It includes a USB-C cable and travel pouch, but cable inclusion isn’t as exclusive to Anker as it once was.

On the downside, there’s no Quick Charge support. Making it less desirable for some LG and Motorola phones. Unlike previous Anker models, you lose fast charging support when using both ports. You will also pay a premium for the Anker brand and customer support. Worth it for some, but less so for others.

It’ll fast charge iPhone 8/X/XR/XS/11/SE, Samsung Galaxy, and Google Pixel. No fast charging for Quick Charge supporting Android phones.

All models of the Nintendo Switch can charge at or near their max rate. of an advantage for launch day model Switches.

Larger tablets, including the iPad Pro, will also take advantage of the 15V power profile. Though the 10,000mAh capacity is more limiting for those devices.

It comes bundled with a good USB-C cable and travel pouch, which can carry both a power bank and cable. Anker is renowned for their customer service. With 15V also supported on the input side you can use most of any USB-C power adapter to recharge it in a few hours. Including the Nintendo Switch’s AC adapter and older Apple USB-C power banks.

Bottom Line

The Anker PowerCore 10000 PD Redux offers the usual Anker quality and support. Including the needed USB-C cable and a decent travel pouch. Its 15V power profile offers better charge rates for some devices. But it has the same weak dual device charge rate as cheaper competitors.

Buy if you:

Need to fast charge iPhone, Samsung, Pixel, iPad Pro, or Nintendo Switch
Want to charge an original model Switch as fast as possible
Prefer the Anker brand and customer support

Don’t buy if you:

Need to fast charge a Quick Charge supporting Android phone
Value price over potential performance drop

You’ll want a USB-C wall charger to quickly recharge this USB-C power bank. I recommend the Anker PowerPort III Nano.
