Cons

Here at Charger Harbor, we’ve reviewed lots of 2-Port power banks. Some of these 2 port portable chargers end up being good, and others are built on being mediocre.

If there’s one thing that stands very true is that 2 port chargers are meant to deliver more than just what a 1 port power bank provides because having 2 charging ports means more than just being able to charge 2 devices at once.

It means that it’s able to use better tech, higher power capacity, and faster charging. These types of power banks have more to prove with what they’re capable of.

This is the Aibocn 10,000mAh power bank, with its 2 charging ports; let’s see if it provides the value that it’s built for.

Similar Power Banks:

Power Capacity:

To start with, the initial power capacity is 10,000mAh, and although that sounds good, the power bank doesn’t do so well with its conversion rate.

Sure, an Output capacity depends on the charging speed and the efficiency of the battery used with the power bank. Still, in this case, there’s nothing special about the battery, and the charging speeds aren’t going to impress unless you’re charging a tablet.

With that said, the power bank can lose about 3,000mAh of power capacity through charging. However, that conversion rate can change depending on what you’re charging and how fast it’s charging.

With an Output power capacity of 7,000mAh that you’ll be getting, the charger does well to charge smartphones.

This is because most smartphones will be able to charge 2 times or more. As for tablets, it’s not the best portable charger to use with a tablet unless you’re using it with tablets that have lower battery capacities like the iPad Mini 2 and 4 versions.

If you want to charge a tablet with this power bank, it’s best to use the entire power capacity and charge the tablet alone with the 2.1A port.

DevicesAibocn Power Bank 10,000mAh External Battery Charger (Output Capacity = 7,000mAh)Phone CapacityAibocn Power Bank 10,000mAh Left Over Capacity after One Charge

Output Charging: Port 1: 5V/2.1A Port 2: 5V/1.0A

The best word to explain the power bank’s charging speed is saying that it’s very average. That’s right.

One of the charging ports can deliver a charging speed of 2.1 Amps, and that’s an excellent charging speed because it’s very close to a Max standard charging speed of 2.4 Amps.

The other port is 1.0 Amp, which is a much slower charging speed. The 2 charging ports come together to a Max Output of 3.1A, but one major problem is also prevalent within other power bank chargers. Charging speeds for each port are fixed, so the 2.1 Amps that come from the 2.1A port can’t be transferred over to the other port.

Make Sure to Choose the 2.1A Port First

The Input charging is a disappointment, with the power bank only being able to recharge at a max rate of 5V/1.0A. For most power banks with their capacity, the recharge rate is usually 2 Amps, and you can charge the power bank to full in 6-7 hours.

In this case, even if you use a 2 Amp wall charger, this power bank will recharge to full in about 11-12 hours. Aibocn should consider upping their input charging speed simply because a 1 Amp Input is a thing of the past, and people want to use their portable charger ASAP.

Size and Weight

For a 10,000mAh power bank. this charger is too big.

The length is 6.8 inches, it has a width of 4 inches, and the thickness is 1.4 inches. So it’s a large power bank that is the same size as a 20,000mAh power bank.

The weight is also quite heavy at 9.6 ounces. Overall, the size and weight don’t match up the power capacity of the charger.

We understand that the power bank has two charging ports, but it’s supposed to be smaller with its capacity. Just look at the PowerCore 10000 from Anker ; it has a power capacity of 10,000mAh, and yet it can fit into a bag or even a

With its size and weight, it’s not possible to comfortably use this power bank while you’re holding it. So it’s best to place it into a bag and use the charger by setting it down and charging your devices.

Functional Components

The functional parts of the charger are placed in the same general location. The USB charging Output ports are on the charger’s long side, the Micro-USB Input port and flashlight are on the short side. The power button and 4 LED power capacity indicators are on top of the power bank.

Surprisingly, the power button is a major functional part of the power bank because you have to press it to begin charging. The power bank turns off automatically when there is nothing connected to it, though. Also, if you want to turn on the flashlight, you have to double-tap the power button to turn it on.

The flashlight isn’t that bright, and we don’t understand why there’s a need for it, especially with this charger that already has a poor conversion rate.

power, bank

Structure and Material

There’s nothing special about the structure of the Aibocn power bank. It’s separated into 3 parts with the main centerpiece and two side panels. The entirety of the charger is made of plastic. It’s going to last long as long as you don’t drop it. Dropping this portable charger wouldn’t bode well for the structure since it’s quite heavy, and the shock during a fall would damage it.

Tech

The tech behind it isn’t anything special, much like the rest of the aspects of the charger. This because the power bank uses normal Lithium A-Grade batteries, so it doesn’t have the advantage of Panasonic battery cells.

Although the power bank does take advantage of safety techs like Over-Charge, Over-Voltage, and Short-Circuit protection to make sure your devices and you are safe during charging.

Reliability

Reliability is quite lower when you put everything together. The power capacity isn’t close to the initial power capacity of 10,000mAh, and the conversion rate can fluctuate quite a lot during charging, so power capacity is all over the place.

The Max Output of the power bank at 3.1A is alright. Still, it would have been even better if both of the charging ports shared their Amperage capabilities because if you’re charging 2 devices with the charger, then there will always be a single device that is connected to the 1 Amp port that will be charged slowly.

If the Amperage were shared between the charging ports, then the charging speed would be much more reliable, and there would be fewer compromises.

The size isn’t very reliable for great portability because the charger is the size of a 20,000mAh power bank, while it’s a 10,000mAh power bank.

Summary

Power:

The power capacity can go very well below the initial power capacity because the charger’s conversion rate is very poor. Charging speed means well, but it doesn’t help that each of the charging ports is limited by their charging speeds and that charging power isn’t shared. As a result, you’re always going to have a slow charging device when you’re charging 2 devices at once.

Design:

It’s a large power bank that is the size of a 20,000mAh Portable charger, which means that you have to carry it around like a 20,000mAh power bank.

Build:

There’s nothing special about the build, with the charger being made of plastic, but the structure is good. On the inside, there’s just the usual safety tech. Unfortunately, it doesn’t use Panasonic batteries.

Reliability:

Reliability isn’t that good when you have most aspects of the power bank being well below what they’re supposed to be. It’s an okay charger when it comes to charging speed, but even then, it’s limited by not having the charging speed be free-range between the ports. For everything else, the reliability is very mediocre.

Aibocn 10,000mAh Dual Port Power Bank Specs

Conclusion

This 10,000mAh Aibocn power bank means well with its ability to charge 2 devices at once and a max output of 3.1A, but ultimately, it fails to deliver what it’s supposed to.

The power capacity can go down quite a lot during charging, and the Max Output doesn’t mean much if you’re charging 2 devices at once since the 1 Amp port will always be charging at 1 Amp. It’s also large, and it has the size of higher capacity power banks, rather it should be smaller.

Things To Look for in a Power Bank

Size and Weight

Your power bank is designed to be portable, otherwise, what’s the point?! With this in mind, the physical size and weight of it will be major factors in considering which one is right for you.

The charger should be able to fit neatly in the same space as your cell phone; otherwise, you’ll have one in your while carrying the other in your hand — not cool!

Bottom Line: Look for one that will fit neatly in your. purse, or backpack. While power banks should have a sturdy feel about them, they shouldn’t be uncomfortably heavy, so opt for one that’s light enough not to weigh you (or your s) down.

Milliamp (mAh)

The power capacity that your power bank kicks out is measured in milliamp-hours or “mAh.” The amount of mAh available will define how much charge you can expect to get out of your power bank.

Common capacity ratings range from 2,000mAh to 20,000mAh and in some cases, even as high as 40,000mAh. To give you a rough idea of how the amount of mAh juice in the bank affects what you can charge and how often, consider the following:

  • An iPhone 7 can be charged approximately 6 times with a 20,000mAh power bank
  • A Samsung Galaxy S8 can be charged approximately 4.5 times with a 20,000mAh power bank
  • An iPad mini can be charged approximately 4 times with a 20,000mAh power bank

Think about what devices you need a power bank for and how long you’ll be away from a power outlet. If you just need something to keep your phone topped up a couple of times a day, a 5,000mAh or 10,000mAh will do the job just fine and it will be physically smaller, too.

Hot Tip: Most airlines will cap power banks at 20,000mAh while some will allow larger. Always check with your airline as to what the maximum capacity requirements are.

Inputs (1A, 2A, or 2.4A)

At some point, your power bank will need charging up to ensure it can provide the backup charge power you need. What you want is a nice, quick recharge speed that means you can get back out there without having to be attached to a wall socket for hours on end.

The input charging speed is dependent on the type of wall charger used. A standard wall charger with a 2A output would recharge the power bank twice as fast as one with only a 1A output. For this to happen, your power bank would need to offer a 2A input.

While some do offer this, many still rely on a 1A input which will take longer to reach a full charge.

Hot Tip: Newer power banks can be charged even more quickly with the addition of a 2.4A input option. Look out for these if you want the fastest charge on the market.

While the Sikon Power Bank is compatible with numerous devices, its primary function is to keep your laptop operational no matter where you are.

It works best in association with smaller laptops such as MacBooks, MacBook Air, MacBook Pro, Microsoft Surface Pro, Dell XPS, HP TPN-C116, and THINKPAD E430, as well as some others that operate at no more than 85 watts.

It provides fast and effective charging capabilities, although 1.8 full charges of your laptop will drain the power bank entirely, meaning you’ll need to plug it into a wall socket somewhere before you head out again.

It will also charge your phone, GoPro, iPad, and even gaming gadgets, so while it works well with laptops, it’s not limited to just their use.

Frequently asked questions

Can I bring a power bank on a plane?

Power banks can only be transported on a plane in a carry-on and cannot be in your checked luggage.

Airlines usually allow a 100Wh power bank with a 5V output, which equates to 20,000mAh.

Some airlines will allow 160Wh power banks if you declare it beforehand. Always check with your airline before you fly.

What is the best portable power bank?

Some of the best portable power banks that we recommend are:

  • Anker 321 Power Bank
  • Anker PowerCore 1300
  • Anker PowerCore 5000 mAh Ultra-Compact Portable Charger
  • Anker PowerCore II 10000 Ultra Slim Power Bank
  • Antank Power Bank For Nintendo Switch
  • Sikon AC Outlet Portable Laptop Power Bank
  • Lanluk Portable Charger Power Bank
  • Qi Solar Power Bank

Is 20,000mAh good for a portable charger?

20,000mAh is a fairly common capacity for many portable chargers, which equates to around 6 full charges of an iPhone 7.

How many mAh is good for a portable charger?

Think about what devices you need a power bank for and how long you’ll be away from a power outlet. If you just need something to keep your phone topped up a couple of times a day, a 5,000mAh or 10,000mAh will do the job just fine and it will be physically smaller, too.

How do I choose a portable charger?

The important things to consider when choosing a portable charger are:

  • The size and weight, so it’s not too bulky for your needs
  • The power capacity that the power bank kicks out (measured in milliamp-hours or “mAh”)
  • The input charging speed

USB-C Power Bank Wall Charger Comparison

One of the many highlights of the reversible USB-C connector and cable is undoubtedly the increase of guaranteed power, more than triple from USB 3.1’s 4.5W (5V 0.9A) to current 15W (5V 3A). When coupled with USB Power Delivery 2.0, output can be increased by severalfold to 100W (20V 5A) over a USB-C connection to power and recharge even the most power-hungry laptops.

USB Power Delivery?

That being said, there are two types of USB-C power banks and wall chargers you can buy today. The ones that leverage USB Power Delivery (PD) 2.0 standard can supply power more than the usual 15W. They are needed to recharge everything from MacBooks to Nintendo Switch.

Third-party USB-C AC chargers commonly support anywhere from 30 to 60W output whereas current generation of power banks can deliver 45W of power. In comparison, non-PD chargers and batteries are limited to maximum output of 15W (5V 3A) over USB-C.

Some of these products are supplemented with proprietary charging technologies (i.e. Samsung Fast Charge and QualComm Quick Charge). Their respective fast charging modes, however, only kick in when paired with compatible phones or tablets. In other words, they cannot supercharge your devices (e.g. Nintendo Switch, Apple MacBook, Dell XPS, Razer Stealth etc.) that comply with the USB Power Delivery 2.0 specs.

As of this writing, there are only a handful of USB PD power banks and power bricks that can recharge a USB-C laptop at full-speed while it’s under active use. Improved versions will certainly come as the technology matures and as market demand increases.

For comparison, below is a product chart featuring some of the latest USB-C power banks as well as third-party USB-C wall and car chargers we found to be worth checking out.
